'Reiki Energy' is a reiki training organisation that was founded in 2003 by two Reiki Masters, Christiane and Willie. It's aim then and now is to provide solid foundations in Reiki and produce competent Reiki Healers. Both Christiane and Willie fervently believe in a very high and comprehensive standard of training thus the 'Reiki Energy' standard is high and by the end of a 'Reiki Energy' course, the trainee healer will have the expertise, knowledge and confidence to practice on family and friends; practice professionally; or teach as appropriate. All the Reiki courses take place over two days spaced about a month apart. Two weeks prior to course commencement, students receive the relevant course manual enabling them to learn the theory beforehand; this allows Christiane and Willie to focus on the practical aspects of Reiki during the course (attunements, empowerments, healing practice and discussion). All trainees are connected to the Reiki energy using both western-style Attunmements and Japanese Reiju Empowerments; all trainees are Attuned and Empowered by both Christiane and Willie thus students are effectively attuned and empowered twice by two different Masters. Each course also includes extra non-Reiki material to help the student with their healing practice (e.g. listening skills, physical and energy bodies, stress management, etc.).
The vast majority of our Training Courses are held in Colchester in Essex but we also, given demand, run courses in Bury St Edmunds (Suffolk) or in Thetford (Norfolk). Our courses are intensive; they require hard work and committment from the students but they are also very enjoyable. As mentioned, the majority of our courses are held in Colchester; however, lifts are possible for anyone living in Thetford, Bury St Edmunds, Sudbury or anywhere on the route from Thetford (Norfolk) to Colchester.
Reiki is taught via an attunement process; it is passed from Master to student and everyone attuned to Reiki can trace his lineage back to Mikao Usui ('Reiki Energy' prints the student's lineage on the certificate). Reiki is made up from: REI (spirutal force of the universe) and KI (life-energy) thus the word REIKI gives a simple definition of the therapy: a life-energy from the spiritual force of the universe.
Christiane has been practicing Reiki and Spiritual Healing for more than 20 years. She is a Reiki Master and a registered Spiritual Healer; and is a teacher of both Reiki and Spiritual Healing; she also runs a Reiki Support Group. Like Christiane, Willie has also been a Spiritual Healer and Reiki Master for more than 20 years; and is also a teacher of both Reiki and Spiritual Healing. Like Christiane, he believes that 'complementary medicine' should be for everyone.
Most people think of Reiki as a hands-on complementary therapy that is similar to Spiritual Healing. This isn't wrong but it is not a complete description. Reiki is a complete self-healing and spiritual-development system that can also be used to heal others. Reiki, as we know it, was developed in Japan in the late 19th or early 20th century by Mikao Usui. Mikao Usui was raised as a Tendai Buddhist (esoteric form of Buddhism); most of his adult friends were either Tendai Buddhist or were involved in Shinto (native Shamanic practices) or Taoism and Usui is known to have studied these spiritual practices. A considerable number of Reiki techniques are very similar to healing and cleansing rituals from Buddhism and Shinto. There is thus very good evidence to suggest that Reiki is based on ancient healing techniques from Buddhism, Shinto and Taoism and has been re-developed for the modern age.
The Reiki symbol is a combination of the Japanese Kanji: REI (upper part of symbol) and KI (lower part of symbol); Kanji are ideograms or word-pictures. REI means UNIVERSAL but not just in the physical sense. Shingon Buddhism teaches that Dainichi Nyorai created the Universe and everything in it; and that he is the Universe. He is literally everywhere and everything; he is the sum totality of everything. He is also called Mahavairacana (the Great Shining One or Great Sun Buddha) and all other Buddhas are just aspects of him. REI represents Dainichi Nyorai thus REI represents the Universe in all aspects (physical, energetic, spiritual, etc.). KI represents the life-force that pervades the Universe and flows through all living things (it is called CHI in China and PRANA in India). The Japanese dictionary defines KI as ‘vital energy connected with the breath’; ‘invisible life-force’; and ‘material force of the universe’. Since REI represents the Universe in all aspects and KI represents Energy, joining the two kanji together gives a very simple definition of Reiki: Universal Life Energy.
Reiki works on all levels — mental, physical, emotional and spiritual — to balance, energise and heal the body. Research studies have shown it to promote wound healing, lower blood pressure, reduce stress, ease chronic pain and also acute pain such as that suffered by people who have been badly burned, boost the immune system, and also reduce the side-effects of medical treatments such as chemotherapy. It has been used successfully at a Cancer Clinic in Canada to manage pain in patients with terminal cancer giving them a better quality of life in their last days and reducing the need for opiates. There are also anecdotal reports of it curing serious illness. Basically, Reiki accelerates the healing process. Reiki works equally well on plants and animals; it is not 'faith healing'; it is not a religion; and neither the healer nor the patient needs to have any particular religious belief to use it or benefit from it. Whether used on self or others, Reiki accelerates the healing process; it is very gentle but also very powerful.
Reiki can be viewed as a self-healing system or as spiritual development or as a therapy or as all three. Reiki is not a religion and makes no demands of either healer or patient; it does not depend on the beliefs, or lack of them, of either healer or patient. It is not related to faith healing and works equally well on plants and animals, neither of whom are known for their faith or suggestibility. There are numerous medical research studies that prove its effectiveness. Reiki works on all levels — mental, physical, emotional and spiritual — to balance, energise and heal the body. Research studies (see above) have shown it to promote wound healing, lower blood pressure, reduce stress, ease chronic pain and also acute pain such as that suffered by people who have been badly burned, boost the immune system, and also reduce the side-effects of medical treatments such as chemotherapy. It has been used successfully at a Cancer Clinic in Canada to manage pain in patients with terminal cancer giving them a better quality of life in their last days and reducing the need for opiates. There are also anecdotal reports of it curing serious illness. Basically, Reiki accelerates the healing process. It is a very gentle therapy that works via the channelling of energy from a universal source to promote healing and well-being; you can use it for your own benefit and that of others. The most that Reiki demands is that the person be open-minded enough to try it and thus allow it to prove itself.
The ability to channel Reiki is passed from Master to Student through an Attunement (or Empowerment) process. This process opens the Crown, Heart and Palm Chakras; and creates a direct channel to the Reiki Energy Source (i.e. the REI or Universal God-Force). The Reiki Master is merely the conductor in this process; the energy channel is opened by the Energy Source. In recent years, more and more information has come from Japan about the techniques that were used by Mikao Usui — these techniques have been preserved by an organisation called the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai; this organisation was founded after Usui's death by his friends and coleages in order to preserve his teachings. Attunements as done Japanese-style are called Reiju Empowerments; they are very similar to empowerments used in Tendai Buddhism. Some students feel a stronger connection to the energy after receiving attunements, others report a stronger connection after receiving empowerments so, on a Reiki Energy course, we do both. On all Reiki Energy courses, students receive several attunements and several Reiju empowerments. What people feel during Attunements and Empowerments is as varied as the people receiving them. However, the most common feeling is one of deep relaxaton and peace; it is also common to experience warmth, see colours or have pleasant tingling sensations in different parts of the body; it is also common to have a mixture of these sensations. Some people do not feel anything at all. Immediately after the Attunement/Empowerment, most people just feel very relaxed though some may feel mildly spaced out. However, the Reiki Energy carries on working to bring the person into balance; it is thug common to experience some ups and downs or feel sleepy for a few days, or see colours more intensely — these effects are not dramatic and are just the Reiki energy at work. Occasionally, a person can experience the immediate resolution of an ongoing health problem; it is not unusual for people to come along to a Reiki-2 course, a few months after doing Reiki-1, and reporting a definite improvement in some condition.
'Reiki-1' is the introductory level of Reiki and once attuned, and taught, the trainee will have the confidence and ability to heal him/herself and also family and friends. The course covers:
'Reiki-2'is the 'practitioner' level of Reiki and students attaining this level can obtain insurance and thus practice Reiki professionally. The Reiki-2 course covers:
Reiki-3 is the 'Master Level' and students attaining this level have reached the level at which they can attune others to the Reiki Energy and teach them how to use it. The Master Course covers:
All the Reiki courses, in addtion to the above, are intermixed with attunements, empowerments and healing practice. On the Master Course, trainees are trained to carry out attunements and empowerments and practice doing so on the course.
On completion of each level, the student receives two certificates of attainment (one each from Christiane and Willie). All students receive a username and password that will allow them to access the 'Member Area' area of this site; this area contains extra material that will help in their ongoing development.
As mentioned above, 'Reiki Energy' is UK-based with Training Courses being held in Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex. 'Reiki Energy' is, however, much more than a Training organisation; it provides ongoing support for all its trainees in the form of 'Support Evenings' in Colchester, where ex-trainees can practice Reiki techniques, discuss ideas and have their questions answered. This website is an online support for our trainees, current and past, where they check research, download certificate and manuals or just have questions answered. 'Reiki Energy' is a family of more than 100 Reiki Healers and Master/Teachers; we are also closely linked to Suffolk Healers Association which puts us in a very good position to find a healer for anyone seeking Reiki (or Spiritual Healing) in the areas we cover.
